JULY 22, 2024 -- WEEK 13: THREE MONTHS A MISSIONARY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER SUSANNA!!

Hi everyone!  This past week was great and went by SO fast! I had my first exchange with Sister Young! She was so sweet and helped me so much with my Hungarian!  We had a district finding day in Zalaegerszeg! We went knocking and the Jensen's came with us! It was fun to be in a new city that hasn't had missionaries in it for a while!  This week I was offered my 1st cigarette! This man stopped us and we talked with him! As we were talking he offered a cigarette to Sister Birrell and I, it was a good segway into teaching him the Word of Wisdom. It makes me kinda sad because literally everyone smokes here, even the little kids. But hey -- we all get to choose for ourselves!  I've almost been here for one month! Time really flies. I'm so thankful to have Sister Birrell as my trainer!! She is so kind and always helps me with literally everything! She's made my transition to serving in the field so easy and fun!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY in two days to my awesome sister,...

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a fabulous week!! Happy summer!! This last went by so quickly! It's SO hot here!!  A sweet member here in Szombathely had us over for dinner and then took us to lavender fields! It was honestly so surreal. Driving out of the city and into the countryside was so beautiful. It was exactly what I imagined Hungary to be like! We walked through the lavender and all that was going through my mind was the song "My Heavenly Father Loves Me". I felt the spirit so strong as I was admiring all the pretty things that God put on the earth for you and for me!  I think I'm almost adjusted to the time here! I am 7 hours ahead of Missouri time. The first few days were so hard to stay awake! I was falling asleep every time I sat down for longer than five minutes.  English class! This week was fun! A nice man who attends brought me a chocolate bar because it was my name day!! In Hungary they celebrate name days! It for real was so sweet!  We had a branc...

Sziastok! I have been in Hungary Just about 12 days!  We had plenty of fun experiences this past week! I got to teach my first lesson in Hungarian and it went well! Thank goodness for Sister Birrell because when I didn't know how to say something she always would help me out! I'm really trying to speak Hungarian!! Lots of people here tell me I speak so well for only being here for such a short time! Everyone here really is so kind to me.  Something that I have found is that I like knocking so much better than street contacting! That means that I like knocking on peoples doors rather than going up to random people in the street to share a message with them! They both are great, I just think knocking is more fun! You never know what you are going to get!  The other day Sister Birrell and I were knocking and we heard music coming from a truck so we were "ICE CREAM TRUCK"! Turns out it was a literal bakery on wheels?!?!? The guy driving pulled right up too us and we bough...

SZIASZTOK!!!! I am officially in Hungary! Its kinda crazy that I am here. It does not feel real!! We left the MTC last Wednesday. My family, Emily, Amy, and Fernando, were waiting for my district and I to get to the bus stop. I gave them all a quick hug goodbye and got onto the bus. We got off the bus and onto the front runner! When we got to the Lehi stop, they announced that there were people holding signs outside! It was my family! My sister Katie and all her kids had made signs for me! I waved bye to them and it made me cry. There really is nothing more important than family, and I am so blessed to be born into a family who is always there for eachother no matter what, and who truly just love each other. We made it to Salt Lake City and got onto the Greenline. While riding we met a nice man and had a good conversation. After he gave us $100 to get food in the airport. It was so sweet of him. We rode that and made it to the airport!  We went through a special se...
