JULY 8, 2024 -- WEEK 11: FIRST WEEK IN COUNTRY

Sziastok!

I have been in Hungary Just about 12 days!

We had plenty of fun experiences this past week! I got to teach my first lesson in Hungarian and it went well! Thank goodness for Sister Birrell because when I didn't know how to say something she always would help me out! I'm really trying to speak Hungarian!! Lots of people here tell me I speak so well for only being here for such a short time! Everyone here really is so kind to me.

Something that I have found is that I like knocking so much better than street contacting! That means that I like knocking on peoples doors rather than going up to random people in the street to share a message with them! They both are great, I just think knocking is more fun! You never know what you are going to get! πŸ

The other day Sister Birrell and I were knocking and we heard music coming from a truck so we were "ICE CREAM TRUCK"! Turns out it was a literal bakery on wheels?!?!? The guy driving pulled right up too us and we bought chocolate crossings from him! It was so silly and honestly so cute! The people here really love a good PΓ©ksΓ©g(bakery)! There are SO MANY bakeries here!! I bet there's 10 in a 1 mile radius. πŸ₯πŸŽ‚πŸ₯žπŸ§πŸšš

Everyone house has a dog here and they all have fences. We will be walking past a fence and all of a sudden you just hear the loudest bark you've ever heard in your whole life. I think I have had about 5 heart attacks a day from that! πŸΆπŸ•

Yesterday, we went and visited a member at her apartment and the elders came with us! We gave her a message about strength and how Heavenly Father can make us strong. We planned on singing How Firm a Foundation with her! We got to the end of our message and it was time to sing! We decided to sing acapella and no one was really confident in starting the song so I did! As we were singing I realized that what we were singing was not matching up with the sheet music and I just dismissed it because I can't really understand the Hungarian and what we were saying. We all realized at the same time that I had starting singing the Spirit of God instead How Firm a Foundation! We were singing the words of how firm a foundation to the tune of the spirit of God🀦‍♀️ I WAS SO EMBARRASSED!!! We all just burst out laughing once we realized!

We get the opportunity to teach English class! English class was on 4th of July!! I lowkey had fomo that i didn't get to be in America for it!! I really love 4th of July!!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸŽ†

We have a few people who come and learn English from us and it is so sweet! It's fun because I am trying to learn Hungarian and they are trying to learn English so sometimes it's a little hard to communicate what we both are wanting to say! I had a competition with a man named JΓ‘nos where we tried to see who could roll an r the longest! It was a tie. We always share a spiritual thought at the end of class! All the Hungarians complimented me on my Hungarian! It wad sweet to see that they can see the effort I am putting in to be able to communicate with them in their native tongue!

I have been blessed so much by Heavenly Father since I have been here. I have had a continual good spirit about everything I do, and nothing has had to power to drag me down or stain my spirit! The first few days were hard with not understanding people, but I just had to take it for what it is and accept that I won't fully understand now, but I will later! The Lord truly is with His missionaries everyday and in everything that we do. I have been studying a lot in my scriptures and have really grown in my love for them. A verse that reassures me in what I am feeling is in Doctrine and Covenants 78:18 --

18  And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours

-- Heavenly Father sees me and you and what we struggle with. Have the faith and hope that He WILL deliver you from your challenges. It might not be how or when you want it, but it will come on His time. Put your faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and you will be able to conquer any challenge that is thrown your way.

I love you all and hope you have an awesome week!!! πŸͺ©πŸ©·πŸ§š‍♀️πŸ₯³
