JULY 1, 2024 — WEEK 9: MAGYARORSZÁG

 SZIASZTOK!!!!

I am officially in Hungary! Its kinda crazy that I am here. It does not feel real!!

We left the MTC last Wednesday. My family, Emily, Amy, and Fernando, were waiting for my district and I to get to the bus stop. I gave them all a quick hug goodbye and got onto the bus. We got off the bus and onto the front runner! When we got to the Lehi stop, they announced that there were people holding signs outside! It was my family! My sister Katie and all her kids had made signs for me! I waved bye to them and it made me cry. There really is nothing more important than family, and I am so blessed to be born into a family who is always there for eachother no matter what, and who truly just love each other. We made it to Salt Lake City and got onto the Greenline. While riding we met a nice man and had a good conversation. After he gave us $100 to get food in the airport. It was so sweet of him. We rode that and made it to the airport!

We went through a special security just for missionaries! We were the only district leaving that day so we got through security quickly! We walked through the airport, found our gate, and went to buy food with the $100 that the man gave us. We shared the money so we walked to a few different restaurants. I chose Panera Mac & Cheese for my last food in America and it was SO GOOD! We boarded our flight and got comfy! Our flight was about 9 hours. I was lowkey kinda sick so I took a night time medicine to help with congestion and I was so knocked out for the whole flight. I sat by Sister Lillywhite and we vibed the whole flight.

After a long flight we landed in Amsterdam! It is a big airport and we had to find our way around it. We had to get our passport stamped and had to find that line. We found our gate and sat and waited. I was asleep for that whole flight too. I do not remember taking off! I woke up when we were descending into Budapest. It was so surreal seeing Hungary for the 1st time. We got off the back of the plane and walked down stairs onto the ground and got onto a bus. We rode the bus for about 20 seconds and got to the terminal. It was so easy to get out of the Budapest airport. All of our bags were there but Vitali was missing a bag RIP vitali

The mission president and his wife, and the APs picked us up from the airport! They drove us to fisherman's bastion! We ate dinner with a view of the parliament building! We took pictures and it started pouring rain! We walked around for a little bit then all ran to the car. We went to the hotel and spent the night.

The next morning we ate breakfast and it wad crazy!! Tons of bread and pastries! After we walked to the mission home and got interviewed by president! From there we got assigned trainers! The rest of the day was super crazy!

My trainer is Sister Birrell and we are in Szombathely!

We got a ride down with the Jensens who are a senior couple here! I was trying to stay awake in the car but I just kept falling asleep. My 1st night we ate at Hollywood Pizza LOL!

Our apartment is nice and we have a dryer!!!!!

Things are so good here! On my 1st morning we went to the Pékség which is a bakery and picked a treat!! Good way to start my 1st morning.

Church on Sunday was good! J could not understand really any of what was being said! I was trying to listen to words that I know and I think I heard about 5!

Today is my 1st p-day in country! We went to the store and bought groceries for the week! Brother Benfell, if you see this, I'm sorry, but we went to spar. It was good! I thought it was fun!

We went to like a forest and it started pouring rain while we were walking so I am soaked! It was fun though!

Being in Hungary is so crazy and it doesn't feel real. I've been complimenting all the old ladies and it's fun trying to speak! I tell them that I am learning hungarian!

I have felt a little discouraged because I can't understand anything a real Hungaruan says to me. I'm putting all my trust in the Lord and I know He will help me when I need it.

Hungary is awesome and I am excited to be here and see everything!!

Until next week,
-Tracy
