JUNE 12, 2024 -- WEEK 8: TWO WEEKS LEFT AT THE MTC!!
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great week!
This past week has been eventful! (last week was week 7 so that's why you are getting two week 8 emails -- oopsies)
Sister Summers and I gave our first lesson in Hungarian! We tried our best to understand what was being said to us by the person we were teaching and what we were saying! We know enough Hungarian to get through a lesson. I did not know how to say some things so I just had to try my best and use what I know. It is kinda hard for me to remember some of the grammar principles while I am under pressure. I have been working on my memory and creating sentences in my head versus on paper. We have our next lesson tomorrow! Pray for us!
In our class we talk a lot about Hungary and what to expect when we get there. One of my teachers, Brother Boxx, literally has some of the strangest/funniest stories about his mission in Hungary. Hearing the experiences of my teachers makes me SO excited to go to Hungary! It kinda does not feel real that I am actually going to be there soon. I got my mission call in November and have been talking about going for so long! Now that it is here, it does not feel real. I don't think I will believe I am really leaving until I get off the plane in Budapest. I really can't wait though!! I AM SO EXCITED TO MEET EVERYONE!!!!
Sunday was such a good day! Sister Summers, Sister Hansen and I sang in church! We all wore bright dresses! Everyone was telling us that we all looked so nice together! Sundays are always so good here at the MTC! We had two new districts join our branch this week! It's nice having a lot of people at church! Relief Society was good as always! Sister Heiner taught us a beautiful lesson! At lunch we ate ice cream and it was literally so good!!! I am going to miss being here.
At the end of Sunday night, my district and I took a walk around the MTC! We all took some pictures and sang songs! BYU Security was driving past and I asked if I could take a picture with them! (see picture below)
Last Thursday, Sister Summers, Sister Hansen and I tried out to sing here at the MTC! We ended up getting to sing at the GENERAL AUTHORITY DINNER which is a HUGE deal! Yesterday was our big day! We got to sing for the MTC presidency and President Emily Belle Freeman and her husband! We sang a beautiful arrangement of "Come Thou Fount". We got a picture with President Freeman! After I met a lady who went to dental school with my dad, Lon Tracy, and my uncle, Von Tracy! Her name is Kelly Lineback! It was fun to meet someone who knows and loves my family! About one minute after meeting her, I met my cousin, Jim Tracy! His dad is my Grandpa's brother. It is so fun having a connection with EVERY SINGLE PERSON I MEET! This just goes to show that you should always be nice to everyone! Someone somewhere is going to know you!
Test Tuesday went so good yesterday! I got a 58/67! I COUNT THAT AS A WIN! I only missed one vocab word and it's because I spelt it wrong. My goal for this past week was to know all 140 vocab words for the week. I know I hit my goal! I am proud of my diligence and hard work!
This week we are speaking Hungarian from 9am to 9pm. We can speak English to others who do not know Hungarian. This is gonna be kinda hard but I can do it!
MY MOM SENT US CHRISTMAS HEADBANDS! Since we will not be in America for Christmas this year, I brought up the idea that we should have a Christmas party! If you were in any of my classes in high school, you would know that I LOVE PARTIES! I got the headbands from the mailroom and we all wore one to dinner! We were saying Merry Christmas to everyone we saw! We got a few strange looks but hey, it did not diminish my spirit! There is a Hungarian Christmas hymn that we like to sing sometimes called, "Dicsőség mennyben az Istennek". It is SO CATCHY! We got to class early and sang for our teacher when she walked in! It was fun!
The Lord rewards us for our efforts. I KNOW this to be true. I have seen myself grow in so many ways since being a missionary. My scripture study has become more meaningful, I am learning Hungarian at a good pace, I have the strength to be a missionary. A scripture that I came across this past week was Moroni 7:33 --
"And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me."
This has been a theme that has been consistent in my emails, but I know that through my faith in Jesus Christ, I know that I can do anything. I love the scripture in D:C 84:88.
"And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."
This has been such a strength to me. I know that as I put forth all of my effort into gathering God's children, He will be with me. I am never alone, He is always there.
This week I would like to invite all of you to create times throughout your day where you can feel the spirit! If you maybe are wondering how to do that or are unsure how you feel the Spirit, please reach out to me! I am more than happy to help!
I love you all! I hope you have a great week!
